Everything else you might be wondering
Twenty-six of the questions we hear most often, grouped by topic so you can find what you need.
Is it open to all Australians?
Yes, the ALIBI Awards are open to all Australian ladies in business. It is a requirement to be a member of our free community as well — you can join via this link: FB Group.
Can I nominate myself?
Yes, of course you can. We want to hear about you, your business, and what you've achieved.
Is there an entry fee?
Yes, the fee is $99 (including GST) per category to enter.
Why is there an entry fee?
The entry fees are necessary to cover the costs of organising and implementing the event. As an independent awards program, we aim to celebrate and recognise the achievements of women in business across Australia. A reasonable entry fee ensures the event is high quality and provides an exceptional experience for everyone attending. This includes venue hire, catering, awards production, marketing, and administrative costs.
The entry fee is a small investment that can lead to significant benefits — increased exposure, networking opportunities, and industry recognition. It also helps ensure the ALIBI Awards remain sustainable and can continue supporting women in business for years to come.
I'm in an MLM or direct-selling business. Can I enter?
Of course you can. These women work hard every day and should be celebrated. The only requirement is to have an ABN to progress through the awards program.
Can I enter more than one category?
Yes, of course you can. There is no limit to the categories you can enter. Each category is $99 (including GST) and a separate submission form is required for each.
I've nominated myself — now what?
Congratulations on nominating yourself. Details will be sent to you via email — please check your junk folder in case important details slide into the wrong inbox.
We'll send a link to answer the questions and enter your submission via the form on our website. Submissions must be in by 11:59pm on 11th August 2026.
Don't forget to follow us on socials to keep up to date with announcements and news.
Is there an entry guide?
Yes. The five-step process above and this FAQ cover the essentials. Once you nominate, you'll get access to the Awards platform which includes video walkthroughs to help you prepare your submission.
When will the finalists be announced?
Finalists will be announced on 24th August 2026.
Can I nominate someone else?
Yes. We have two options — a free form, or a form where you can nominate and pay for the person's nomination. Please provide their contact information so we can get in touch.
I've nominated a fellow business owner — now what?
What an amazing gesture. They'll be notified that they've been nominated. They'll also receive an email with the next steps to submit their entry.
We don't disclose who nominated them — so if you'd like them to know, you'll need to tell them yourself.
To nominate someone, why does one option require payment?
We offer two ways to nominate another business owner: a free form, or a paid form where you cover their entry fee.
Paying for someone's nomination is a great surprise for a fellow business owner. From feedback we received when researching the awards, people who were nominated for free and then faced with an entry fee didn't always feel grateful — they felt stressed, especially when sent an invoice to progress.
If you think someone would be great for the awards, you can share the awards with them so they can enter themselves. But if you want to nominate them so all they have to do is answer the questions, you'll need to pay the fee when nominating them.
How are the winners chosen?
Winners are chosen through a thorough process by a panel of judges who are experts in their respective fields. They evaluate each submission based on a set of criteria, considering both written and video submission responses before making a final decision.
What is the shortlist committee?
The shortlist committee selects the finalists for each category. All nominations are evaluated by the committee based on the written responses. Once finalists are determined, their submissions and videos go to the judging panel for further evaluation.
Will there be feedback from the judges?
Yes. Awards are a great way to be recognised, but also a great way to receive feedback you can use for future submissions. You can email us to request your feedback after the Awards Night.
How will the judges' feedback be delivered?
Judges provide written feedback on each finalist's submission. Feedback is available via request through email — admin@alibiawards.com.au.
Feedback requests need to be submitted within 10 days after the Awards Night. After that, an admin processing fee applies.
Why is there an additional video submission for finalists?
Adding video submissions for finalists lets us get to know the person behind the business and creates a more personal connection between judges and finalists. We also wanted to make sure everyone has a fair chance of winning — regardless of their ability to hire someone or rely on AI to help with their written entry.
While we still accept written submissions for the initial entry phase, video submissions allow judges to see and hear directly from business owners and get a better understanding of their passion and vision.
Will the video be shown publicly?
No. The finalist's video submission will only be shown to the judging panel.
What should I include in my video submission?
Your finalist submission video should include:
• An introduction of you and your business
• Answers to the 3 questions provided in your finalist email
• An inspirational quote to finish the video
Is there a time limit for my video submission?
Yes — the video should be no longer than 5 minutes in length.
What do I win?
Winners receive a trophy and a certificate. They're also featured on our website and social media platforms. As a bonus this year, winners also receive a radio interview with our media partner and an article in a digital magazine.
Do you have to attend the awards night to win?
Not at all. Sometimes life happens, and we don't believe you should be penalised for being unable to attend.
That said, we'd love for you to attend — to celebrate with fellow finalists and, in the event you win, to deliver a speech and celebrate your achievement on the Awards Night.
Can my partner, friends, or staff attend the event?
The more the merrier. Everyone who purchases a ticket is welcome to attend. What an amazing way to celebrate your potential win than surrounded by family and friends.
Do I receive anything as a nominee?
Congratulations on nominating yourself or being nominated. After you finalise your nomination, you'll receive an email containing a graphic to share on your social media and/or website. Keep an eye out for the postman too — we send a small gesture of appreciation for supporting us and the awards program.
Do I receive anything as a finalist?
Congratulations on being a finalist. We'll call you to congratulate you, and you'll receive an email containing personalised graphics for your website and socials.
We'll also attach a PR template you can fill in with your information and send to local media. Being a finalist is a remarkable achievement worth sharing with your community and local media — we encourage you to do so. If you're featured anywhere, let us know so we can share the great news.
This year for the first time, you'll also receive a short interview with our media partner.
I have more questions.
If you have any questions that haven't been covered, please don't hesitate to email us at admin@alibiawards.com.au — we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Your business deserves to be recognised
Five-step process. $99 per category. No limit on how many categories you enter. The 5th Annual ALIBI Awards Night is Saturday 24th October 2026.
I wish to acknowledge the Dharug and Gundungurra People as the custodians of the place where the Australian Ladies in Business Initiative is based. The sacredness of this place in the Blue Mountains is deeply enjoyed and I acknowledge that part of its special nature is because of the custodial role you undertake here. Thank you. I'd also like to acknowledge all other Aboriginal peoples across this land and your deep and unwavering spiritual connection to the land, sea, and community. My admiration for your cultural connections and community inspires me to hold a space for a connected, authentic, and fun community of business ladies. I pay respect to the Elders of the lands across Australia and am committed to continue listening and learning how the Australian Ladies in Business Initiative can be inclusive of First Nations people.
